Remember that these are just the thoughts of one man and I can be wrong. You don’t have to take my advice. You asked so I just wanted to help the best way I can
1st person: The artist has a clear message and is good at getting his point across. His phrase delivery (I guess this can be explained as when the person says each word in correlation with the song.) is good, but he doesn’t give the “feel” that he’s rapping. It sounds more like poetry as is, but once he works on it he’ll be good. The only down fall is that even though his skills are good, people are ignorant, so not everyone will appreciate his skills as a rapper. He has a message instead of being another commercial rapper who has no skill, but makes it. He has what people want in terms of having meaning behind what he says, but people don’t always want to hear about hardships. He should probably include how this knowledge helped him as a person, or helped someone else. If he works on that (which shouldn’t be hard because he seems like he has a lot of basic knowledge) and how (not when) he delivers each word (which is what he should worry about the most), then he can probably go somewhere.
2nd person: This artist is harder to hear since his deep voice blends in with the bass. His phrase delivery isn’t as good as the 1st person, but it’s easier to work on phrase delivery than giving the feel of a rapper (which he gives off more of). I can’t tell what he’s saying, but I don’t feel like he has enough meaning behind what he says. These things can improve by knowing a lot of words (which is essential to be a good rapper (both word and definitions)) and listening to when other people start and stop rapping. Phrase delivery is less of a vocal skill and more of a purely musical skill. This can be explained when someone plays an instrument. It’s noticeable when someone keeps messing up when they play their notes at the wrong time.
Overall: The truth is that the 2nd person has it easier since you can study and learn his stuff (mostly) by himself. The 1st rapper may be better now, but it’ll take less time for the 2nd one to improve his skills since giving the feel of a rapper is something that someone has to make into their own, and they have to continuously ask for the help of others while fixing any mistake that they are advised upon mostly by themselves. But all – in – all, they have a lot of potential.
